Hugpile meme!

We all love our characters, even if we sometimes take a great deal of glee in dropping small mountains on them. Thus this meme, where they can hugpile and cuddle to their hearts' content.

You are in a vast room that seems somehow familiar to anyone who was around for the slumber party. Things that happen over here won't necessarily disturb what's happening over there, with a couple of semi-screened areas for semi-privacy and all the pillows and blankets and soft (or bouncy) surfaces you could ever want. Refreshments are available - energy drinks, Livian's candy, Roy's popcorn, and whatever else you'd like to dream up. There are even some cuddly toys left over from the slumber party and the octopus is still here.

~Rules!~ (shamelessly stolen from the sleepover meme)

When starting a thread, put what you're doing, who's involved, and any warnings in the subject line (e.g. 'Pillow fortress || OTA || tooth-rotting fluff'.) Also use the subject line in case a thread develops in such a way that new warnings are needed.

Within an open-to-all context, threadjacking and multiplayer threads are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.~~ Threads locked to a few characters are allowed too.

Continuity is variable, and likely unique to each thread. What happens in-meme stays in-meme unless you want it to apply somewhere else, and snuggling up in the Rinzlerpile doesn't mean you can't also snuggle in the Userpile somewhere else.

This meme is safe. Like, really safe. Highest level of physical harm that can happen in this area is shoving someone or getting whacked with a pillow; anyone who attempts harmful physical contact (including unwanted disc meddling, I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU, CLU~) is quantum-teleported out of reach before the harm can happen, ~as many times as it takes~ for the message to sink in, and everyone goes in fully aware of this. Viruses and glitches are contained in a katamari ball quantum sphere which suppresses their infectious capabilities; such spheres can merge with other spheres, and non-viruses can go in and out of them at will (and only perceive a mild static sensation if a virus tries to infect them).

Which makes this a good place to thread with folks your characters don't often get an IC chance to thread with.

No pressure. This meme isn't expiring any time soon. Feel free to take your time!

Of course common rp courtesy applies here -- no godmodding, be mindful of one anothers' comfort levels, warn as needed, ask if uncertain of something, etc. Which we all do because we're awesome.~~

Other than that, HAVE FUN! |D

[Cracks a sympathetic smile and scoots over, patting the seat beside him. He's still a product of his own system, and Clu's word is enough for him. Come, join him; this is meant to be a comfort-party, after all.]

I get loomed over enough just walking around. You can sit if you want. Plenty of room.

Thanks. [Clu comes around the sofa, plopping down next to Kip.]

Anyway, now that you know my name, whats yours? Don't think we've met on the regular Grid yet.

You haven't. Then again, I haven't been wandering around that much. [He folds up cross-legged and props his arm on the back of the couch.] My name's Kip. I'm the new updater moving in to the building in Phi Sector. It's still under construction, but eventually, I'll get up and running.

Updater, huh? The Grid can sure use one of those.

If I can help out with setting up, let me know? I can't exactly do the big stuff but detail work I can do. Or maybe help securing files once you get started.

[Have a relieved grin, Clu.]

I could use that help, actually. I'll have a lot of sensitive information to store, and I know glitch about securing any of it. You could drop by to visit me while I'm setting up, if you want, once I get finished with construction and start furnishing.

[Clu grins right back and nods.]

Sounds like a plan. Don't want anybody getting into the kind of data you're likely to end up with, after all.

[Laughs at the irony. In his old system, Clu would be one of those 'anybodies'.]

[Clu laughs too, well aware of the irony.]

Quite a reversal from what you're used to, I take it?

[A nod, slightly skewed with homesickness. It's been getting better, and his new friends are there to help him out, but even in the future he'll always miss it.]

The Grid is very different to the system I came from. Hackers were something to call the monitors about, not invite to set up your domain security restrictions, for starts.

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-04 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Have a friendly pat on the shoulder there, Kip. Clu knows that feel about being homesick, though he doesn't think about it nearly as much any more.]

Take it you didn't have any hacking programs that were native to your system, then?

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-04 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Shakes his head with a wry grin.]

You kidding me? In a home system like mine, Security's provided near-daily updates just to keep you fellas out. No fancy infiltrators working for our side, not in a Grid that small.

Re: Couches near the edge || OTA || warn as needed

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-06 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Clu grins right back and shrugs a bit.]

I was written in a small system like that, actually. Course, that was cycles and cycles ago, and even then it wasn't exactly typical.

But yeah, Flynn only really needed me for missions six or seven times a cycle, at most. There was alot of downtime in between, so I wound up helping out anywhere in the system my function set could be useful.

Good practice for living here, as it turned out; not alot of hacking to do when you're confined to one system, after all.

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-06 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nods, happy that Clu's been able to integrate easily into the system. It's the goal of every updater to ensure this.]

Glad you've settled in so readily. Guess that means you won't be one of my clients, eh?
tanks4thememory: (Smile)

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-07 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Being pretty much designed to integrate myself into other systems probably helps.

But yeah, barring some unforeseen disaster? Probably not. Might stop by anyway sometime, if you're not busy. [wry smile] Though the chances of that happening are pretty slim, given this system.
lunarwatch: (dubious/uncertain/eyebrow)

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-07 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[A moment of puzzlement over the phrasing, but he chuckles anyway.]
tanks4thememory: (Smile)

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-09 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. You're going to have your work cute out for you around this Grid. Which is what makes a place like this especially nice.

[Folds his arms behind his head and leans back against the sofa, relaxing.]

Everybody needs a break from the crazy now and then.
lunarwatch: (gentle-smile/shy-smile)

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-09 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah, so it wasn't that the chances of being visited were slim, it was the chance of not being busy. He mirrors his companion's posture, although his lean sets his back against the other armrest, legs stretched out across the couch.]

Oh, I think I'll have plenty of things to divide my attention from work as well. [That smile's a bit smug, Kip, if not a little sappy too. Eden's still on his mind.]
tanks4thememory: (Clu Grin)

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-10 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Clu chuckles. That's definitely a smirky-grin there too, yup.]

So I've heard.
lunarwatch: (sleeping/unconscious/bodysuit)

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-10 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[kicks the hacker's leg lightly with a sock-clad foot, then stretches out a bit more and scoots down to rest his head against the arm rest, sighing as he settles in.]

Meh. Not as comfy as my (hypothetical) couch.
tanks4thememory: (Smile)

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clu just grins some more at the sock-clad kick and proceeds to make himself comfy.]

Yeah. Generally speaking, nothing beats something you've tweaked to your personal specifications. Though I'm generally able to get comfortable most anywhere.

Good thing, too, as I spent more than one rest-cycle curled up in a niche of Outlands-type terrain back in the day. Or in my tank control chair.
lunarwatch: (dubious/uncertain/eyebrow)

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-12 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[An eyebrow lifts, curious, as he folds arms over his chest and lolls his head sideways.]

What's a tank?

[No MCP invasion forces in his system, and he hasn't encountered the Grid's more notorious forms of transport yet.]
tanks4thememory: (Smile)

[personal profile] tanks4thememory 2013-03-15 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[That earns you a surprised look, Kip.]

'What's a-?' Man, you really are from as small system. Thought most every system at least had a few tanks in their security arsenal.

Anyway, easiest way to explain is probably just to show you, so... [Takes a moment to pick out several images of tanks, both his old one and in general, interior and exterior, and zips them into a datapacket, which he then pings across to Kip.

That's a tank. The older model pictured in the images is a customized model Flynn made for me, so that it could be piloted by just me and Bit; normally, it took a minimum crew of three back then to operate it effectively, though a typical tank crew was four programs: gunner, pilot, navigator, and comms. Modern tanks have cut the typical crew in half, though, and in a pinch, one program can do it all, though without specially modded controls, that takes practice.
lunarwatch: (iotower/working/data)

[personal profile] lunarwatch 2013-03-15 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clu gets a wrinkled nose in response. It isn't Kip's fault his system was so well-adjusted. He catches the ping on his datapad, opens it up to read, and tries to stifle a scoff of laughter.]

Oh, these things. I think I saw one on display in a security archive once.

[Sorry Clu, but your tanks are really outdated material to Kip. The hassle of talking to a future!program. He drags up a memory file of his own, something sleek and deadly-looking and decidedly more mobile than a clunky tank, and shows the datapad to Clu.]

We used these things, and aeronautic seekers. Tanks and Recos just couldn't move fast enough, not at the speeds internet ports can run.
