Hugpile meme!

We all love our characters, even if we sometimes take a great deal of glee in dropping small mountains on them. Thus this meme, where they can hugpile and cuddle to their hearts' content.

You are in a vast room that seems somehow familiar to anyone who was around for the slumber party. Things that happen over here won't necessarily disturb what's happening over there, with a couple of semi-screened areas for semi-privacy and all the pillows and blankets and soft (or bouncy) surfaces you could ever want. Refreshments are available - energy drinks, Livian's candy, Roy's popcorn, and whatever else you'd like to dream up. There are even some cuddly toys left over from the slumber party and the octopus is still here.

~Rules!~ (shamelessly stolen from the sleepover meme)

When starting a thread, put what you're doing, who's involved, and any warnings in the subject line (e.g. 'Pillow fortress || OTA || tooth-rotting fluff'.) Also use the subject line in case a thread develops in such a way that new warnings are needed.

Within an open-to-all context, threadjacking and multiplayer threads are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.~~ Threads locked to a few characters are allowed too.

Continuity is variable, and likely unique to each thread. What happens in-meme stays in-meme unless you want it to apply somewhere else, and snuggling up in the Rinzlerpile doesn't mean you can't also snuggle in the Userpile somewhere else.

This meme is safe. Like, really safe. Highest level of physical harm that can happen in this area is shoving someone or getting whacked with a pillow; anyone who attempts harmful physical contact (including unwanted disc meddling, I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU, CLU~) is quantum-teleported out of reach before the harm can happen, ~as many times as it takes~ for the message to sink in, and everyone goes in fully aware of this. Viruses and glitches are contained in a katamari ball quantum sphere which suppresses their infectious capabilities; such spheres can merge with other spheres, and non-viruses can go in and out of them at will (and only perceive a mild static sensation if a virus tries to infect them).

Which makes this a good place to thread with folks your characters don't often get an IC chance to thread with.

No pressure. This meme isn't expiring any time soon. Feel free to take your time!

Of course common rp courtesy applies here -- no godmodding, be mindful of one anothers' comfort levels, warn as needed, ask if uncertain of something, etc. Which we all do because we're awesome.~~

Other than that, HAVE FUN! |D

[You'll have to forgive your User, Dumont if it takes him a moment to get over his surprise, even with the more casual approach. You are... not what he was expecting, to say the least. But even if the face and voice- despite the feline body they're attached to- weren't enough, there's an unmistakable sense of connection humming between them at this close distance.

The response of gently petting the head ducked under his hand is more automatic than anything else, after years of dealing with Alan and Lora's cats, but he finds his voice after a moment.]

...Dumont?

[The name isn't quite certain- Dumont is hardly the only program he's written over the years, after all- but it feels right.]

[Can sense the surprise-wary-confusion through the albeit limited connection; this Gibbs is not the one who programmed him, but is close enough that Dumont does not care. Obliging his User's nerves, he backs off, dialling down the variables of his render to appear much less imposing. Lion-sized, rather than Liger. A shift of facial features as well, from feline to humanoid, and he can't help the beaming, whiskery smile that Gibbs remembers his name out of all the other Guardians he installed.]

It's good to meet you, even in this removed setting, User Gibbs. I apologise if I alarmed you with my approach.

[Now that's a bit more like it. Though it's still strange seeing what is essentially his own head on a lion's body, wariness due to the presence of such a large creature is quickly giving way to curiosity.

Gibbs waves off his apology, though.]

That's quite alright. You're... not really what I was expecting, that's all. [Quickly realizing that that could be taken the wrong way, he clarifies.] That is to say, I've already met a version of Tron, and one of Lora's programs, so I was expecting to see... well, myself, essentially, minus a few years, if I ever encountered one of my own programs. This place is just full of surprises, it seems.

In any case, I have it on good authority that we'll eventually be meeting on the Grid proper as well, but for now... [Wraps his arms around that big, furry neck and gives his program a hug. Perhaps not the version written by him personally, but his program nonetheless. And he has a great many years of missed hugs to make up for.] It's good to meet you too, Dumont. [Very good indeed.]

[A low chuckle accompanies a keen curiosity in Gibbs' observations.]

I can take such a form, if you would feel more comfortable. It would not be the first time, although it would require I shut down most of my functionality.

[He would rather not feel that sense of helplessness that once gripped him during the MCP's reign, but for his User, he would oblige this request if made.

Ah, but for now, it is the time of hugging. Any User who has ever read The Chronicles of Narnia probably fantasises about receiving a hug from Aslan, and this is probably close. A rumbling purr and a massive paw tuck Gibbs to Dumont's chest, nuzzling the frizzy white hair.]

[Gibbs has never been quite adventurous enough to ever want to get this close to an actual, flesh and blood lion. But this is something quite different. Comparing it to a hug from Aslan was one possible description, but at the moment, whatever form Dumont was in, it felt more like reuniting with a long lost son. Which, he supposed, was exactly what it was.

The hug lasted for a few long moments, reestablishing long-forgotten connections, before Gibbs pulled back again, straightening up.]

I rather like this form, actually. More unique. And though I would certainly like to see that form someday, if only to see how that sort of transformation works, this place seems to be all about comfort. So however you're most comfortable is fine by me.

[For cycles, he has guarded the transmissions of other programs, but it has been far too long since he's felt his own User's call. Now Dumont basks in the feeling, only releasing Gibbs when the human began to pull back. He squares his shoulders proudly and beams, tail flicking against his paws.]

Then for now, I shall stay with this form, though there isn't much need of it. I've no doubt you'll get to see the other when we meet at last.

[Gibbs finds himself unwilling to break contact completely, allowing on hand to remain resting on Dumont's furry- is that even fur, really?- shoulder as he marvels at his program. A being he created, albeit unknowingly, all those years ago. Was this how Alan felt upon first meeting Tron? Or Roy upon first meeting Ram? Or was it even more for them, given that programming was their specialty?

Whatever the case, though, he too was quite willing to continue to bask in the rightness of this new feeling now as well.]

No, I don't expect there is. Though I'd bet it came in handy more than a few times in the past.

And I very much look forward to that meeting. Especially if it's anything like this one.

[The filaments that Gibbs stroke shimmer in silvery tones beneath the User's touch, sensors providing a wealth of data to the program who marvels with just as much fascination at the human standing next to him.]

Y'know, I must confess you're not what I expected either, User Gibbs. With the average program around here being a mirror of their creator, I was expecting you to be much the same, or I the same as you, as it were.
