Hugpile meme!

We all love our characters, even if we sometimes take a great deal of glee in dropping small mountains on them. Thus this meme, where they can hugpile and cuddle to their hearts' content.

You are in a vast room that seems somehow familiar to anyone who was around for the slumber party. Things that happen over here won't necessarily disturb what's happening over there, with a couple of semi-screened areas for semi-privacy and all the pillows and blankets and soft (or bouncy) surfaces you could ever want. Refreshments are available - energy drinks, Livian's candy, Roy's popcorn, and whatever else you'd like to dream up. There are even some cuddly toys left over from the slumber party and the octopus is still here.

~Rules!~ (shamelessly stolen from the sleepover meme)

When starting a thread, put what you're doing, who's involved, and any warnings in the subject line (e.g. 'Pillow fortress || OTA || tooth-rotting fluff'.) Also use the subject line in case a thread develops in such a way that new warnings are needed.

Within an open-to-all context, threadjacking and multiplayer threads are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.~~ Threads locked to a few characters are allowed too.

Continuity is variable, and likely unique to each thread. What happens in-meme stays in-meme unless you want it to apply somewhere else, and snuggling up in the Rinzlerpile doesn't mean you can't also snuggle in the Userpile somewhere else.

This meme is safe. Like, really safe. Highest level of physical harm that can happen in this area is shoving someone or getting whacked with a pillow; anyone who attempts harmful physical contact (including unwanted disc meddling, I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU, CLU~) is quantum-teleported out of reach before the harm can happen, ~as many times as it takes~ for the message to sink in, and everyone goes in fully aware of this. Viruses and glitches are contained in a katamari ball quantum sphere which suppresses their infectious capabilities; such spheres can merge with other spheres, and non-viruses can go in and out of them at will (and only perceive a mild static sensation if a virus tries to infect them).

Which makes this a good place to thread with folks your characters don't often get an IC chance to thread with.

No pressure. This meme isn't expiring any time soon. Feel free to take your time!

Of course common rp courtesy applies here -- no godmodding, be mindful of one anothers' comfort levels, warn as needed, ask if uncertain of something, etc. Which we all do because we're awesome.~~

Other than that, HAVE FUN! |D

Oh?

[That surprises her. Yori hopes it's only an effect of memory, because she's not sure at all how the aftermath of the MCP's fall would have gone without Dumont.]

[Even so, for once she can talk about good news of the future, instead of the Grid's long slide to despair.]

We did win against the MCP, and that seems to hold for every world I've heard of. I could tell you how it went in mine, if you'd like.

[Being sequestered in headspace has left him a little muddled on the details. Still, he looks interested, crossing his forelegs one over the other.]

I enjoy a good storytelling. Please, by all means.

[It isn't often someone else gets to reminisce to him about the way things were. How novel.]

[She keeps the description to fairly brief summary. Even so, it makes a good story, if a strange one to be telling Dumont of all programs.]

You delayed Sark long enough that Tron and I made it to the simulation hangar ahead of his guards. I activated a Solar Sailer only just finished to take us toward Central--it was the fastest option.

[Stole, really, but that sounds more like a joyriding beta than a desperate assassination attempt.]

I don't know if you've heard, but the MCP had digitized a User onto the Game Grid. Flynn. He'd been fighting alongside Tron and Ram--an actuarial program, if you haven't met him yet. They were separated in the escape. Tank fire derezzed Ram.

[A twinge of sorrow creases Yori's face. She still remembers Tron's grief, later, when there had been time for such luxuries. Finding Ram on the Free Grid had been an unexpected joy.]

But Flynn followed the guards and made it to the Sailer just as we left the bay.

[Dumont listens with fascination, a word he often mutters in the lulls of the tale, tailtip twitching against his haunch as he processes the data.]

A User in the system, you say? [He can't be entirely surprised here, as after all, he can see Users milling among the programs in the room. But he imagines he would be quite astonished if this were being told elsewhere.] Fascinating. I wonder how the MCP accomplished that. Terrible business, of course, messing with the Users; shame on him. But still, quite fascinating.

[The sorrow that crosses Yori's face is echoed on his own features, for he knew Ram however briefly as a beta. At least there is comfort that the Free Grid exists to give such unlucky souls a second chance.]

[Don't stop there, Yori. He practically perks his ears with interest.] You became quite the little pirate, Yori; I approve. Though I don't calculate it was smooth running after that point. [A sympathetic look.]

[She can't meet his eyes at the statement of curiosity, not willing to go into the details of how it was the MCP got control of their own Users' digitizing laser.]

It was a similar process as those oranges, actually. Much more complicated--but I never would have expected a User to show up like that. The MCP didn't care about risks, of course.

[She does snort in amusement at his pleased assessment of her theft.]

Nothing's ever easy. We made it past the Recognizers on patrol, but there was a surge in the line to the MCP. No junctions close enough. Flynn managed to redirect the energy. It would've derezzed anyone else who tried it like that. I was skeptical of his claims of being a User, but that was impressive anyway.

Unfortunately, dealing with the surge delayed us. Sark took a different route in his command ship and caught up just as we were crossing out of the Sea.

[The sound as the Sailer shattered, the crushing utter despair as she watched Tron fall away--Yori won't ever forget that. Even if new memories are more painful now, the old ones stay vivid.]

[A worried rumble at the look on Yori's face, and a twist of render code changes his features to more feline aspects. A large muzzle bumps gently against her arm, eyes dark and reassuring. They survived, he knows that much, and it was long ago for the smaller program, but it's obvious that things still haunt her memories.]

[Watching Dumont's face grow increasingly catlike is a new experience. Yori smiles for the proffered comfort. Dumont's always been good at that.]

When the Sailer crashed into Sark's ship, I thought Tron must have been derezzed. No one could survive a fall at that altitude. Sark thought so too.

You were a prisoner aboard, too, my world's version. I was glad to see you, even if we both thought it was probably the last time. I told you about Flynn's claims. He wasn't doing anything much then. No plan at all.

[That was Flynn's usual method. Against the MCP it had worked. Undeservedly, she sometimes still believed.]

Sark was taking all the remaining Guardians he'd rounded up to the MCP, to be...absorbed. He left me and Flynn on the ship as it derezzed.

[Not as nightmarish as Clu's methods, but a horror all its own. Yori clenched a fist in grim remembered triumph.]

Flynn had enough energy stored from the surge earlier to keep the ship intact--and me, too. Then we saw Tron from the navigation deck, down on the mesa, fighting Sark. The commander didn't last long. I always knew he wouldn't be much in a fair fight.

[He listens with concern, but cannot help the snort of dark satisfaction over Sark's defeat.]

Well done Tron.

[It would've been nice to get a few licks in himself, but the commander had been given his due justice for his atrocities. It seemed there was yet more to the story, so Dumont remained otherwise quiet.]
