You are in a vast room, vast enough so that what happens over here won't necessarily disturb what's happening over there, with a couple of semi-screened areas for semi-privacy and all the pillows and blankets and soft (or bouncy) sleeping surfaces you could ever want. Refreshments and entertainments provided by your dear friends at End of Line and Alan's popcorn machine. A movie screen or two. Stuffed animals (what is that one with all the tentacles anyway?). Your choice of sleepwear. Whatever else you'd take with you to a slumber party. And you get to share all of this with everyone else on the Grid.

Clearly this will be the best night EVER.

This meme is safe. Like, really safe. Highest level of physical harm that can happen in this area is shoving someone or getting whacked with a pillow; anyone who attempts harmful physical contact (including unwanted disc meddling, I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU, CLU~) is quantum-teleported out of reach before the harm can happen, ~as many times as it takes~ for the message to sink in, and everyone goes in fully aware of this. Viruses and glitches are contained in a hamster ball quantum sphere which suppresses their infectious capabilities; such spheres can merge with other spheres, and non-viruses can go in and out of them at will (and only perceive a mild static sensation if a virus tries to infect them).

Which makes this a good place to thread with folks your characters don't often get an IC chance to thread with.

"Really?" Kade poked dubiously at one, blinking as it poked back with an annoyed No. "Never thought they could say much, myself, but I haven't really tried to talk to one. Just 'yes' and 'no,' right?"

"Well, yes and no." She replied with a laugh, "That's all they say, but it certainly isn't all they mean." She tilted her head, tucking her hair behind her ear, "They move." She traced a pattern in the air with one hand, rather like a Bit's erratic flight pattern, just more graceful when she did it, "And those movements mean things, usually. Sometimes all it means is that they're terribly excited."

Tilting his head, Kade watched the Bits floating around, trying to make sense of their patterns. "Never noticed that before," he commented. "I mean, I could guess if one of 'em was excited or angry or something, that's pretty easy. But you can understand more?"

"Oh yes." She nodded, "I'm a translator. I translate everything, and Bit flight patterns are easy compared to some things." She smiled, "They know all kinds of things, it's just that their attention span isn't so great, and while they might remember what they're trying to get across, they're likely to get distracted by something shiny partway through."

"That sounds like some other programs I know," Kade replied, poking lightly at a floating Bit. He laughed and fell back in the pillows, stretching his arms over his head. "Well, me, really. Easily distracted unless I'm hacking something fun." He tossed a pillow back and forth in his hands, watching the seemingly random patterns of the Bits flying around them. "So, what're these little guys saying now?"

She watched them herself for a moment before replying, "Right now they're just trying to sort you out. They haven't decided yet whether you're friend or foe. On the one hand, you've stirred up the nest, but on the other, you aren't trying to make them go away. They'll sort it out soon enough."

"Hey, I don't mind 'em." Kade held out his hand to a Bit, watching as it floated down to bounce against his hand. "They're kinda cute, y'know? And I didn't know they were in the pillows."

"I think that's going to be your saving grace." She said, smiling again, "See?" She was speaking to the flock then, "He didn't know you were there, you were blending in."

Another smile, nodding to the one that had bumped him, "That's Aleph."

"They've got names?" Kade looked wide-eyed at the one hovering near his hand, laughing shortly as it responded with an enthusiastic Yes. "I never knew that. And you can tell 'em all apart too, I bet, huh?"

"They don't all have names." She replied with a laugh, "Just Aleph and Sigma so far as I know, though the others might have names and I just don't know it yet. But usually it's Aleph, Sigma and the quartet."

She shrugged, tucking her hair behind her ear, "Though there are a few that we've run into here, I don't know if they have names or not. I can tell them apart though, even the nameless quartet."
