February Plot-With Me Post
Now that we know who’s around, what the event is, and what the game looks like for now, everybody get in here and plot!
Grid_lined plot-with-me posts will happen monthly from now on, and will replace the monthly plotplurk memes that folks have been using (since it’s difficult to find them again or keep track of so many different plurks). You can plot specifically for the storm event in that post or here, but this post is for February plots in general.

Ossa's repair thread and consequences
Ossa's memory has been the biggest hurdle since her arrival, and it has been getting worse. Because her disk does not sync correctly due to an internal glitch in her code caused by going disk-less for much of Zuse's time at the EoL and his policies, she cannot always write temporary memory to permanent storage, causing her to forget names, places, and faces. Before now, this was kept in check by medics, but there was really nothing they could do to actually repair her.
Since Kato arrived at the EoL, he used his knowledge of creating medicinal energy blends to generate a mix for Ossa that has helped her remember more things for longer. However, this mix has also caused her to begin drifting off in daydreams or 'fugues' during work, as her systems lag trying to store so much in temporary memory.
(This, by the way, is mostly Kato's fault; most of his experience with recompiling has been on Isos a long time ago, first-aid on Basics from the colony, and mostly on himself and Britt's unique mix of code. Plus, with his directive conflicts latching onto more musical functions, it's harder to get it right. He's gotten lucky so far that he hasn't permanently damaged anyone. Even Kip didn't escape unscathed, even with Wulf stepping in; his air circulators still purr asthmatically when he overtaxes them. But this is a guilt-trip for another time.)
Eventually, which is where the repair thread will open, Ossa will completely freeze. Someone will find her and alert Eckert. Ossa will not remember him at first for a brief moment, because there's too much corruption. A User, Gibbs likely, will be called in to help.
The final diagnosis, which I'm sure nobody will like: Ossa's problem cannot be solved by a simple disk-replacement or code-editing at this point. If it had been done properly and early on, there may have been a way to fix everything with happy consequences. Now, the glitch is too ingrained in her primary code.
The only way to fix her now is for Gibbs, in User-world parlance, to do a rollback of the program in safe-mode to before the glitch developed. It will erase her databanks, but once supplied with a new disk and rebooted, Ossa will be able to remember and store memory properly. The downside is, essentially she will be a beta again, having to relearn everything and re-meet everyone she ever knew.
Knowing that such heavy code-tampering has been an issue in the past, consent is very important here. Ossa will be in sound-enough mind at this point to provide that consent, firmly and decisively, because she wants to be fixed. She knows that her friends and EoL family won't abandon her and will be there to help her recover and learn things anew. And, fortunately, while Gibbs is doing the roll-back, he will be able to recover some of her uncorrupted memory that he can re-load for her, so that she doesn't loose everything.
Ossa will wake up, her personality and attitude intact, completely accepting that the strangers around her are friends, and begin her life anew. Her reintroduction and reeducation to life on the Grid will happen mostly off-screen, as she fades into the background to be an NPC again, unless specifically asked for in a thread.
I do not know when this thread should take place, or if anyone besides Eckert, Kip-and/or-Kato, and Gibbs wants to take part, but please tag if you have a say to say.
Re: Ossa's repair thread and consequences
Though if someone would call Cline and let him know what's going on, that'd be great. He's Ossa's friend too, and would want to know if something major like this happened. Whether he actually gets there in time for the various happenings depends on whether I feel like bringing him in or not, but still there should be a note or something that somebody called him.

Re: Ossa's repair thread and consequences
As for when it should take place, that's up to you. At this point, I didn't have any specific post-Storm plottage for Eckert, so it would fit in now-ish if you wanted that.
Re: Ossa's repair thread and consequences
Given my current todo list, I'm going to save starting this for a point in the future, rather than link it to anything currently running.
