Aaaalright. As we've probably all noticed, LJ decided to enact it's broken-as-fuck changes to the commenting system.

I figured I'd just make a default/dummy thread here so we can all get the hang of the new system. >:/ Guess since we're stuck with it, we should learn how to make the best of it, eh?

O.K. we're getting somewhere now. Looks like it's not as bad as I'd thought at first? I hope? Though there's no titles. >B< And...

Ok. I guess it's not too hideous. Though I'm going to really miss my comment titles. FYVM, LJ.

And I get the feeling this new system will completely break my craptastic phone...

I don't mind the new way of selecting icons but everything else? IDEK... -.-

Ram has over 100 icons, and they were sorted numerically by keyword.

I mind.

..I wouldn't be averse to this method, really, if there were a way to switch back and forth when I feel like it? BUT THERE ISN'T.

ALSO, APPARENTLY CHOOSING A USERPIC ONLY WORKS IF ADBLOCK IS OFF????

o_O I have adblock on and it worked for me.

I don't know WHAT I have on that's blocking it. >.< I have a lot of anti-script stuff on my firefox! I don't want to have to change all of it again!

Hopefully you'll figure it out soon. o_O I'm seeing the icons changing here.

That's because I'm using Ram's journal style; the keyword dropbox works in that, and more importantly the icon is actually the right one. /sigh

..it works in Ram's journal style, but only there: if I switch back to the normal style, my ~subject lines~ look like I just wrote something in bold at the top of my tag.

And unless I'm mistaken, you have to pay for LJ to view things in your own style.

Somebody please tell me I'm wrong about that. x_______X

From my understanding, they were trying to get rid of them completely.

So it seems. IDEK WHY they'd want to do this. WHAT IS SO OFFENSIVE ABOUT SUBJECT LINES LJ, HMMM?

It's been my experience that a big-business's favorite passtime is fixing things that aren't broken. >B\

It's ugly and I hate it.

That's pretty much what my opinion boils down to. I won't try to lure all of you over to IJ yet, but I will list the reasons I like it:
*100 base userpics
*Exactly like the old LJ
*Actual communication from the developer/site mod when things go down.

And also: Notifications that actually work

I just remember how the influx of everyone broke Deadjournal a few years back during the strikethrough wank... and then everyone came back here.

I'm not panicking. I'm not dragging the comm through another move. We're staying here and it'll be fine.

Thank you for that. Really, I know it can come off as sarcastic over text, but I mean it. I like it here, and I don't want to have to not be here just because LJ doesn't want RPers on their site.

Which is me overreacting and being dramatic because I'm tired and frustrated at the whole debacle. I'm just going to shut up and go to bed now.

I've switched it to a different style so it should be at least functional for now. Unfortunately I had to make the comm a plus account to do it... so if you haven't already, turn on your adblock.
