New Level Unlocked; Villain Zone!
Hey, ya'll, this is Angel ( Abraxas ) with my second Tron villain; Clu(2)!
Annnd, as this has been chattered about on plurk a lot, and now vetted by our lovely mods, pitching another plot idea in honor of opening up a new location;
It's been established that eventually there needs to be some sort of place for the orange guys to go where they won't be summarily executed in the street ( not that this guy doesn't deserve it, but makes plotting hard ) so Sharn (
notglitching ) Re ( our new AU!Sam,
lyal2clu ) and I figured that between the Rinzlers keeping Clu's throne ship, and working with the rest of the comm, we could come up with a suitable place.
My thought was possibly letting them take over one of the floating cliffs out over the Sea of Simulation, and set up a little base of operations? Hard to get to, hard to find what with all the rocks floating around out there, and removed enough to not step on any protagonist plotting toes.
But this shouldn't be easy! I'm planning to put up a closed post ( Sorry! ) for my Clu, here, first because there's a little bit of plot setup that needs to happen to make all this stuff work the way the various muns want it to. Once that's done with, though, it'll be open season.
But we want to hear your thoughts, grid_lined! I figure that Security will be not happy about the influx of orange onto the Grid, but would they fight them, exile them? My Clu, and Team Orange will be staying sneaky for a little bit to begin with, but when that changes, how should it change?
Ideas/Comments/Suggestions, please put them here!

My vote would be for the Clus to basically approach Flynn as a delegation and demand autonomy. That could at put a veneer of due process on the idea of handing part of the Grid over to the bad guys, as well as assuaging their egos, since if they wanted equal treatment I'm sure they'd be given it.
Another thought: Team Protagonist would have ICly talked about this somewhere offscreen, at least in the process of running disaster simulations about what might happen if the Portal suddenly dropped a pile of Clus on them. XD~ What might they have said?
(I may have to find a way to ICly remove Ram and Roy from the Grid while the action is going on, though. With rl clearly not letting me have brainroom for backtags, I can't manage them having to deal with a new pile of inevitable angst and conflict. :( )

Of course, I imagine certain elements of Security will still be
creeping on you like Batmankeeping an eye on things. You know, in case of sudden yet inevitable betrayal.no subject
Tron back signal needs to exist, just sayingMostly, yeah. Having a place they could
recuperate, and rebuildbe left alone seems like a win-win all the way around. My Clu is definitely doing a priority check post-Reintegration ( and wondering how he survived that, but that's another thing ) and falling back on old sneaky bastard(tm) instincts. The betrayal is a given, though. Just...later.

If it's inevitable you're by definition expecting it. :|no subject
Obviously, we'd have to have some sort of lockout so they couldn't go taking over whatever they wanted in the city, but taking over floaty island things? Totally doable, and with Compiler on their side, they could start building their own little grid-colony out there.

To start with, it'll be skirmishes, and I assume some NPC-ing done as far as some rank and file joining up with Clu again. Just because there was a lot of the Grid that was orange beforehand, and I don't see every single program ever just...giving up on hundreds of cycles of function, and their day to day lives?

Not saying some kind of treaty wouldn't be the eventual result, but at this point, the protagonists have been able to keep the whole place theirs for long enough. I don't know if people would just assume giving Clu even a part of the Grid back is the sane/safe move when they (think they) have the capability to just shut him down.
/shrug. Obviously could go either way, but it seems more likely to me the concession would be made after fighting has proven to work poorly for both sides, which means there would have to be at least a period of conflict.
But I play a murder-happy character for a reason, so there may be some bias in this. Did I mention conflict is fun? Right. That.>.>no subject
I like the idea that Team Clu starts setting up their own little operation with Compiler's help, perhaps being hidden for awhile. Maybe the Rinzlers and/or Abraxas can cause some havok in the city to hide what's going on out in the Outlands until it's too late to do much about it?
no subject
To start with, though, it's going to be a fair amount of sneaking through the Outlands on the saved ship, staying on the move and such, shadow games tactics, and Clu basically doing his best to let the fear of his reputation take hold before he ever actually makes himself known. In the meantime, he's got Compiler working at understanding the changes made in this Grid, then getting to work on altering it. BUT THAT IS OTHER PLOTTING FOR ANOTHER TIME.
Bottom line; initial period of conflict is ( in my mind ) a building tension of Loyalist(s) carrying out strike, and fade maneuvers to get resources, information, etc that Clu wants, and needs.

I was just thinking this could easily bring the Free Grid to the edge of civil war, especially once Clu goes public. In which case diplomacy is the new "I win" button.
But, you know, not until unavoidably public/edge of civil war. Because pick fight with every Rinzlers was apparently on Tron's bucket list somewhere. :D

aside from that one Clu who shall not be spoken of as she soon wanted to kill him for reasons, so she has become very much a recluse. Rejoining the orange ranks will definitely do her some good.no subject
It seems to be only a handful of orange folks still running around, yeah. But after chattering with Re, and Sharn on plurk, this seems like a fun thing to do, and I'd be super happy to have lots of other g_l muns and characters involved as well?
I HOPE I CAN DO CLU JUSTICE
because lord knows there's more than a few AWESOME Clu players running around journal RP these days jhjfjhakhno subject

I'm probably the only detractor in the 'liking conflict' area, I'm really not a fan, and while I'm fine with emotionally heavy threads (and, in fact, am quite fond of them) I'm not big on action/fights/political intrigue.
That said, I do think this is a good idea (things will get stale with everyone more-or-less happy all the time) but I'll be keeping my kids out of it as much as possible. I realize that I'll probably get caught up in the edges of it considering who all I play, there's not really any conceivable way for a security guy, one of the Trons (and for that matter one of the Rinzlers because he's still not sure which he is) a User and a couple of Isos to stay out of this kind of thing completely.
This is by no means a 'I'm taking my toys and going home', because, uh, I'm not, and this is my home, it's just that I personally am not comfortable playing out action/infighting/actual fighting/political intrigue. I'm not good at it, and it's not something I'll get good at if I do it more, trying to write those things becomes a chore for me and I don't want RP to be a chore as I do it to get away from things that are chores to me.
So, in summary:
It's a good idea and I am all for it and even though I will be keeping my cast list as minimally involved as possible, I will still be watching with interest.

And thank you for being one of us and speaking up, even simply to say "I'll be watching". This is home for us all, even when part of our company are having rock-band practice off the hall. ^______^~~

That said, I know it's also a mods preference thing, and I will do my best to not let Flynn lag out of it, since... well.
