February Optional Mini-Events!
Behind the scenes, we're working on a rule page, an information post describing the environment and new geography of the Free Grid, and a couple of other things. Those will probably be up next week, but first here's the rundown on what's going to happen with events!
It looks like we’re going to run with one event on the first week of every month. They won't all be massive Grid-changing events (otherwise "what new disaster are we getting this month?" would be an IC thing and that's just silly), but each monthly event will affect all or most characters in some way.
In between, to keep things interesting, we’re introducing optional mini-events. Each month, in between larger-scale events, we’ll post three suggestions as to things your character could get up to in that open post you were meaning to make. Mini-events will not affect the population at large; it will be up to each individual player which, if any, of their characters are affected, and how. Players can take the suggestions and work them into an open post, creating some action, tying it in (or not) with recent events, and potentially forwarding any plotline their character has. (Closed posts and posts unconnected with either main events or mini-events are, of course, still allowed as well.)
So without further ado: here are the mini-events for this month! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to put your character through any one or combination of the following scenarios:
1. Vehicular incident. Did your train derail? Did a four-wheeler take a wrong turn into a Recognizer right in front of you? Did a gridbug eat a cog in your lightcycle? Did your buddy’s tank break down? There has been an incident, and you are involved. How, where, why, and to what extent?
2. Only a dream. Maybe it was a good one. Maybe it was a bad one. Maybe you dozed off in the park, or maybe you dozed off at the wheel, or maybe Wulf’s about to wake you up after emergency code surgery. Maybe it was someone else’s dream entirely, and they accidentally broadcast it to the whole block. And maybe it jolted you awake, or maybe you woke up gradually, or maybe you slept through it and remembered it later, but the long and the short of it is that there was a dream. What will you do about it?
3. You are so very late. You overslept, or the road was blocked, or you forgot you were supposed to be there, or that one guy at the bar just would not stop talking, and now you’re SUPER late, or there’s just barely a chance that you’ll make it in time but let’s be realistic, shall we? Was someone waiting for you, or are you going to miss the show, or is something amazing about to happen if only you can make it, or are you late for work for the fifth millicycle running? This is going to be awkward, or inconvenient, or super cool, or a TERRIBLE DISASTER, and the whole Grid wants to know how.
Take ‘em and run with ‘em! That’s what they’re for.
